A 22-year-old Manning man was granted a $30,000 surety bond Saturday after his arrest Friday for his alleged role in an argument that led to a shooting incident at a home on Pack Road in Sumter County. Raymond Dean Hughes Jr. of 1185 Crews Drive in Manning was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm. Deputies allege that he and 21-year-old Frankie Joe McDonald III of Sumter went to confront a 24-year-old man, and that McDonald shot at the victim as the pair were leaving the scene. Hughes' first appearance date is scheduled for Oct. 24. McDonald was also granted a $30,000 surety bond. Both men will have to pay 10 percent - or $3,000 - to get out of the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center to await trial. A conviction for pointing and presenting carries five years in prison.
