LEXINGTON - Wanna Mary Morris Elliott, 81, loving mother of three and grandmother to eight, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at her home in Lexington.

Born May 6, 1933, in Clarendon County, she earned her nursing degree at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter, later returning to the University of South Carolina to complete her bachelor of science degree in nursing. She worked at three different Veterans Administration hospitals, and the majority of her career was spent working at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

An award-winning caregiver, she made a difference in the lives of all the people she touched. She loved to learn and instilled that love in her children. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, beachcombing and traveling.

Survivors include two sons, William Michael (Kim) Boykin of Charlotte, N.C., and Darrell Jennings (Peggy) Boykin of Lexington; a daughter, Susan Boykin (Scotty) Mill of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Kaley and Austin Boykin, Megan Wood (Adam) Smolka, Megan Boykin, Jared (Bralyn) Wood, Sydney Boyking and Harrison and Spencer Mill; three sisters, Doris Morris Wheeler, Linda Morris Ross and Dianne Morris Stephens; three brothers, Olin Franklin Morris, Don Harvey Morris and Roger William Morris; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James McCullum and Harry Lee Morris; and a half-brother, Edward E. Morris.

Funeral services for Wanna Mary Morris Elliott will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and the family will receive friends following the service.

Interment will be held at 4 p.m. at New Zion Methodist Church cemetery, 7169 Salem Road in Turbeville.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Oakleaf Village, her daily caregivers and Palmetto Health Hospice.
