Clarendon County Coroner Hayes Samuels said the autopsy of a 28-year-old North Carolina woman killed Monday with her 11-year-old son on Interstate 95 showed the woman was 3-months pregnant. "The examiner at (the Medical University of South Carolina hospital) called me to say that he had some bad news, and that she was about 3 months along," Samuels said. "It's just sad and tragic. Our roads have been just too dangerous this year." Maria Susenna-Ocompos and Onesimo Jimenez, her son, were declared dead at the scene of the wreck which happened about 1:30 p.m. Monday at the 117 mile-marker in the northbound lanes of I-95. The woman's vehicle lost a right tire, and forced her to make contact with another vehicle. Both vehicles careened off the highway and hit trees. All victims were entrapped. A 22-year-old North Carolina woman was taken to a Columbia hospital for her injuries.
