According to the National Weather Service, heat index values could reach 104 today. However, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for east central Georgia and central South Carolina, as the potential exists for some strong to possibly severe thunderstorms this afternoon ahead of an advancing cold front. Damaging winds are seen as the main threat, along with the possibility of hail.
Winds are currently out of the west at 16 to 18 mph. Temperatures tonight could drop to the high 60s with winds out of the west at 6 to 9 mph.
