SUMTER - The 28-year-old Manning man killed in a wreck on Poole Road in Sumter Wednesday afternoon has been identified. Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock said James Patrick Mims of Manning died at the scene from injuries received in a vehicle wreck. Paul Randall Haley of North Charleston was also killed. A third man is currently in a Columbia hospital with injuries from the wreck. The S.C. Highway Patrol said the men were riding in a truck traveling north on Poole Road, near the Sumter-Clarendon line, when the driver lost control and overcorrected. The truck rolled over and later burst into flames. Haley was apparently trapped in the backseat and was unable to flee the vehicle. Mims was thrown from the vehicle. Harvin said the bodies of the deceased will be taken for autopsy today. He believes that both Haley and the injured man, whose identity was not released, have been residing in Paxville.
