SUMMERTON - Jo Anne Thompson McKenzie, 71, wife of Jimmy Ray McKenzie Sr., died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 18, 1942, in Dillon County, she was was a daughter of the late Chesley Devon Thompson and Elizabeth Walters Thompson. She was a member of Summerton Baptist Church and the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team, and was secretary and treasurer of the Goat Island Homeowners Association.

Survivors besides her husband include a son, Danny Ray (Vivian) McKenzie of Canton, Ga.; a daughter, Connie Renee (Richard) Wise of Summerton; five grandchildren, Christine R. Wise, Zachary R. McKenzie, Victoria M. Wise, Dillon W. Walker and Nicholas K. McKenzie; two brothers, Sherwood "Digger" (Marilyn) Thompson and Steven Devon Thompson; and a sister, Phyllis (Ken) Herring.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Ray McKenzie Jr.

A graveside service for Jo Anne Thompson McKenzie will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, with the Rev. Horace Jackson and the Rev. Bob Ashba officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday July 25, 2014, at Stephens Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Agape Hospice, 5 S. Mill St., Manning, SC 29102; or to a cancer fund of one's choice.
