James Patrick Mims, 28, died Wednesday, July 24, 2014.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of Thomas Floyd Mims and Carol Coffey Mims. James was an avid Gamecock fan and loved playing sports for the Parks and Recreation Department and Bates Middle School. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend.
Survivors besides his parents include a brother, the Rev. Brian Magaw and his wife, Amy, of Paxville; a nephew, Del Magaw of Paxville; a niece, Summer Magaw of Paxville; and his grandparents, Howard and Patricia Coffey of Manning.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles W. and Rebecca L. Mims, formerly of Oswego.
A graveside service for James Patrick Mims will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery, with the Rev. Brian Magaw officiating.
Doug Berry, Gary Berry, Jr., George Campbell, Jason Campbell, Archie McDaniel and Boyd Mims will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends for two hours prior to services, from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Bullock Funeral Home.
