A Manning man sought since June 24 for the alleged armed robbery of a 31-year-old man on Nelson Circle was finally apprehended more than two weeks after the incident. Keith Oneal Conyers, 36, of 216 Packard Lane in Manning, has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held at the Clarendon County Detention Center after bond was denied July 14 when warrants for the alleged offenses were served by the Manning Police Department. Chief Blair Shaffer said Conyers was caught July 10 when officers spotted him in town, knowing he had outstanding warrants and was wanted for the robbery, which happened about 1:15 a.m. June 24. The victim told police that he was walking home when Conyers came up behind him and told him to stop or he was going to shoot. "(The victim) states that he did look at Mr. Conyers and did see a small black handgun when Mr. Conyers stated, 'Drop the money or I'm going to kill you,'" reads the incident report provided to manninglive.com on Friday. The victim said he then ran from the scene, and did not see Conyers after fleeing. "We're glad that no one got hurt in the incident and that we were finally able to catch our suspect," Shaffer said.
