LYNCHBURG – Henry Arthur Gee, 65, husband of Ophadell Green Gee, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at his home.
Born Aug. 25, 1948, in Olanta, “Bucky,” as he was affectionately known, was a son of the late Peter Albert Gee and Mildred Williams Gee. He attended Florence County public schools and Carver High School in Lake City.
He joined Emwell Baptist Church in his youth, and later joined Jordan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged
Survivors besides his wife of the home include four children, Cynthia Allen and Amanda Allen, both of Paterson, N.J., Paula Gee of Timmonsville and Henry A. (Tamara) Gee of Augusta, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Tiesha (Darrell) Brown of Florence; seven grandchildren; a goddaughter; two brothers, Eddie (Theresa) Green of Sumter and Byrant (Shirley) Gee of Olanta; four sisters, Lillie M. Brown and Emma Gee, both of Paterson, N.J., Annie R. McGill of Olanta and Marilyn V. Gee of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother- and father-in-law, Frances and Henry Mouzon, both of Florence.
Celebratory services for Henry Arthur Gee will be held noon Monday, July 21, 2014, at Jordan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Olanta, with Elder Kenneth L. Gibson, pastor, officiating, assisted by Elder Ronnie McFadden, Evangelist Naomi Hannah and the Rev. Samuel Burgess.
Mr. Gee will lie in repose for an hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the St. Mark AME Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1685 Yarborough Road in Lynchburg.
