Catherine Pearson

SUMTER – Catherine Pearson, 91, widow of Willie Pearson, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.

Born Aug. 25, 1932, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Madison McBride and Emma Wright McBride. She attended Sumter County public schools. She was a member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Manning, and later became a member of Pearson Chapel Nondenominational Church.

Survivors include six daughters, Ella Nora Pearson, Bernice Samuel, Evangelist Emma (Adam) Jones, Minnie (Miller) Conyers Jr., Willie Mae (Larry) McKnight and Catherine Richburg; a son, Joe (Ella) Pearson; a stepsister, Carrie Amos HOdge; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Celebratory services for Catherine Pearson were held Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6569 Old Georgetown Road in Manning, with the Rev. Hazel Charles officiating, the Rev. Roosevelt McFadden presiding, and the Rev. Daniel Bennett and Evangelist Emma Jones assisting. Burial followed in the Pearson Chapel Nondenominational Church cemetery.
The family received friends at the home of her daughter, Ellanora Pearson, 3210 Old Manning Road in Sumter.
