Manning Mayor Julia Nelson and Tourism Director Carrie Trebil said Saturday that the city received two awards during the 2014 South Carolina Municipal Association annual meeting. The first recognized work on the Gibbons Street Park project, which was a partnership between public and private organizations, including the city and the Junior Chamber of Clarendon County. The second recognized Janet Meleney, a member of the Main Street Manning Design Committee, who was given the Downtown Service Award for her work on getting Manning recognized as a Commercial Historic District with the National Register of Historic Places.
