Marjorie Driggers Smith

Marjorie Driggers Smith, age 90, died on July 10, 2014 at Commander Nursing Center in Florence after an illness.

Born in Clarendon County on August 28, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Siah and Vendell Miles Driggers. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of East Clarendon High School and worked with Avondale Manufacturing for 23 years. She was a faithful member of Salem Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Survivors include a son, Quincy Smith (Alice) of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Jewel Floyd of Olanta. Grandchildren, Legrande Richardson (Amy) of Coward, Bryan Smith (Tara) of Wake Forest, N.C. and Amy Shockley (Joe) of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Great grandchildren, Suzannah and JT Shockley of Myrtle Beach, Whit and Matthew Richardson of Coward. Sister, Barbara Williams of Wichita, Kansas; Brothers, Elro Driggers (Nancy) of Lake City, Joe Deal Driggers (Eloise) of Sumter, Mack Driggers (Margaret) of Scranton; Sister, Barbara Williams of Wichita, Kansas; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Miles of Scranton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard Smith. A full sister, Myrtle Mae Lee and several half brothers and half sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Salem Free Will Baptist Church with burial following in the Upper Lee Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, tonight (Friday) at Floyd Funeral Home in Olanta.
