LYNCHBURG - Mack Arthur Herring, 60, died Wedneaday, July 2, 2014, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.

Born May 27 1954, in New Zion, "Bozzie" was a son of Rosa Herring Brown and the late J.D. McKenzie and a stepson of the late Johnnie Brown. In his youth he accepted Christ, joining Howard Chapel AME Church in New Zion. He attended Walker Gamble School. After moving to Newark, N.J., he was employed as a fence installer with his brother-in-law, Bill McFadden Sr. at Fencing Inc. of Newark.

Survivors besides his mother of Manning include a companion, Gurtha Fullard of Lynchburg; a daughter, Nikkie of Newark; a son, Raheem of North Carolina; two stepdaughters, Sabrina and Sharena Fullard, both of Lynchburg; two brothers, John Henry Brown of Manning and Roy McKenzie; a sister, Ann Jarrett of Manning; three uncles, Prophet Herring of Florida and John Herring and Hardy Herring, both of Turbeville; three aunts, Marry (Charlie) Redden of Kingstree, Esther McFadden of Newark and Ethel Mae Thompson of Florida; and a special cousin, Lethaniel Gibbons.

Celebratory services for Mack Arthur Herring will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Howard Chapel AME Church in New Zion, with the Rev. Oliver Davis, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

Bozzie will lie in repose ne hour prior to services.

The family will receive friends at the home of his aunt and uncle, Marry and Charlie Redden, 1289 Tumey Road in the Workmen Cross Road section of Kingstree.
