James Milton Alsbrook

James Milton Alsbrook, 93, husband of Juanita Avinger Alsbrook, died Friday, July 4, 2014, at his home.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late McKeever D. and Elizabeth S. Alsbrook. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a World War II veteran and was retired from the S.C. Department of Transportation.

Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include a step-daughter, Barbara Kimbrell and her husband, Rupert, of Sumter; two grandsons, Tripp Kimbrell and his wife, Rebecca, and William Kimbrell and his wife, Lisa, both of Sumter; four great-grandchildren, all of Sumter; and special friends Griffin and Corinne Avin.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

The family would like to thank Tuomey Home Health and Tuomey Hospice, as well as extend a special thanks to his sitters, April, Bertha and Daisy, for their care of James Milton Alsbrook.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home in Sumter.
