The Santee National Wildlife Refuge, pictured here, just got a sizable buffer as 192.06 acres of adjoining land has been placed in a conservation easement.
The S.C. Department of Public Safety and Highway Patrol reported Monday morning that five people were killed on state roadways from 6 p.m. Friday through 12 a.m. Monday. This brings the total number of persons killed on South Carolina roads to 558 for the year, two more than this same time in 2013.
Clarendon County has suffered three such fatalities since the beginning of the year.
