Clarendon Health System's Chief Financial Officer John Shaugnessy offered a financial snapshot during Tuesday night's board meeting. Collections for the month of May, he said, were approximately $2,550,000, which was $1 to $1.5 million over April. Year to date by the end of May, the system lost $421,437, he said, with a $254,813 loss for the month of May. "Had a little bit of a slow month," from the in-patient side, he told the board. "Usually May and June things start to slow down in the hospital." Year to date, operating revenue and in-patient revenue have been pretty much consistent for the past few months, he said. Salaries and benefits as a percentage of net revenue remain the same across the board also, he said. "We were substantially under budget as far as volumes go, for the month," he said, and year to date, the system is $189,381 over budget, which still keeps everything on track to hit a $217,000 profit by the end of the year. On Wednesday, Chief Operating Officer Paul Schumacher explained that although the system has lost, year to date, $421,437, the budget had called for a system-wide loss of $610,818 by this point in time. Volume wise, May and June are usually slow, he said, but historical trends show volume ramping back up in July, August and September, which should keep the profit target achievable.
