Runoff Roundup: Clarendon totals

Clarendon County is in line with state totals in the runoffs for lieutenant governor and state superintendent of education. Henry McMaster garnered 65.19 percent of the vote on Tuesday, with 455 of 698 votes. Mike Campbell trailed behind with 243 votes for 34.81 percent. In the Democratic runoff for state superintendent, Sheila Gallagher was handily defeated in Clarendon County by Tom Thompson. Thompson garnered 433 votes to Gallagher's 163, to come out with 72.65 percent of the vote. In the Republican runoff for that office, Sally Atwater only got 40.17 percent of the vote, while Molly Spearman received 59.83 percent. Less than 10 percent of the voting population of Clarendon County turned out for Tuesday's runoff.
