Sarah Margaret Walter McBride, 78, departed this life on Monday, June 9, 2014, in Pooler, Ga.

She was born on March 16, 1936, in Clarendon County, to the late Peter and Elizabeth Davis Walter. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, she joined Mount Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was joined in holy matrimony to Joseph McBride. After moving to Sumter, she attended Mulberry Baptist Church and later rededicated her life at Victory Non Denominational Church. She moved to Pooler and worshipped at Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship and was a member of the senior ministry.

Survivors are her children, two sons, the Rev. William (Rena) McBride of Summerton and George McBride of Sumter, and four daughters, Margaret (Roosevelt) McDaniel and Ann (Isaiah) Smith, both of Sumter, Sharon (Jon) Warner of Atlanta and Terry (Minister Phillip) Foster of Pooler; two sisters, Ella Mae (Joe) Pearson of Sumter and Virginia Gibson of Manning; two aunts, Minnie Lee Prince and Lottie Davis; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2:30-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Sarah Margaret Walter McBride will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Nate Brock, pastor. Burial will follow in the Mt. Chapel Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Isaiah and Ann Smith, 2285 Lloyd Drive in Sumter.
