Billy Richardson thanks voters

Clarendon County Councilman Billy Richardson said he had support not just from District 1 in his bid for re-election to his seat on Tuesday. "I had supporters in District 2 and 3 come out and knock on doors for me and campaign for me," Richardson said. "That's the first time that happened since I ran for council the first time. People have told me they are satisfied with the way their County Council is, and they don't want a change." Richardson said voters have "constantly told me that they're satisfied with what I'm doing, and with what council is doing." "I was told consistently, 'We're going to put you back on there,'" Richardson said. Richardson handily defeated his two challengers, Loretta Pollard and Nathaniel Pugh, in the Democratic Primary for the District 1 seat. With no opposition in November, he will be sworn-in to his fifth term come January 2015.
