Manning brothers denied bond in Florence shooting

Two Manning brothers charged for their alleged roles in the death of 33-year-old Florence man Edward Windham were denied bond Monday in Florence County Magistrate Court. Cory Nettles Allen, 28, of 1050 K.W. Hodge Road, is charged with murder; his brother, 29-year-old Frederick Allen of the same address is charged with accessory before the fact to murder. Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office say the men were shortly after Edward Windham of Florence was shot about 8:15 p.m. June 4. According to deputies, Windham was shot the Tara Village subdivision near the intersection of Candy and Leigh lanes in Florence County. Witnesses told deputies they heard gunshots and ran outside. They reported seeing Cory Nettles Allen holding a pistol and standing over Windham’s body, which was slumped over a moped he was driving. Deputies said Cory Allen made no attempt to run. The men will remain at the Florence County Detention Center through their first appearance date in Florence County General Sessions Court, which is set for Aug. 20.
