EFFINGHAM - Rocky Allen Dickson, 64, husband of Jannie Brand Dickson, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Born Jan. 6, 1950, in Olanta, he was a son of the late Melvin Dickson and Agnes Nero Dickson. He attended Florence County public schools. He joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in his youth, and later, Effingham Baptist Church. He was employed for more of his working years as a truck driver and mechanic. In 2012, he retired from Tidewater Trucking Co.

Survivors besides his loving and devoted wife of the home include two daughters, Marsha (Andrew) Harvin and Nicole Dickson; a son, Allen (Audrey) Dickson; two step-daughters, Loraine Tindal and LaSheena (Cedric) Douglas; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; six brothers, Devant (Mary) Dickson, Johnny (Sharon) Dickson, Bishop J.D. (Lacaisha) Dickson, Willie (Brenda) Dickson, Donald (Sonia) Dickson and Nathaniel Dickson; five sisters, Eddie Mae Williams, Reedy (Roger) Adams, Geneva (Donald) Williams, Linda Edwards and Beulah Felder.

Wake services were held Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St. in Manning.

Celebratory services for Rocky Allen Dickson were held Friday, June 6, 2014, at Believer's Holiness Convention Center, 4301 U.S. 52 in North Coward.

The family received friends at the home, 2515 McElveen Lane in Effingham.

These services were entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
