Progress: Linda's

Before she opened a store filled with merchandise at 35 N. Brooks St. in July 2013, Linda Hill Lane worked out of a Mill Street location that she shared with Cissy’s.

Now, the separate Linda’s carries even more items, with ladies apparel sizes from small to 3XL, along with up-to-date, affordable jewelry through several different lines.

“We carry Susan Shaw jewelry, along with Ann Koplik Designs, which are designed for performers on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” Lane said. “We also carry Sweet Romance, which is vintage jewelry.”

Her shoe line includes Bernie Mev, which she says come in all sizes for all ages.

“They are very comfortable, too,” she said. “We carry other accessories, also, like ladies’ purses.”

A resident of Lake Marion since 2002, Lane is no stranger to owning her own business. She moved to this area after running a business in Florence for 14 years and then selling it.

She went to nail technician school in 2004, and “worked doing nails part-time, added jewelry and then purses.”

“The shoes came later,” she said. “I outgrew my location on Mill Street that I shared with Cissy’s, and so I moved into a 1,700-square-foot building that I have slowly filled with merchandise.”

Lane said she enjoys helping customers find the right outfit or accessory.

“We enjoy and welcome customers to bring in any outfit, and we offer free the service of matching up accessories,” she said.

She said she’s proud to be a part of the Manning business community.

“We at Linda’s are happy to be a aprt of Manning and this community,” she said. “We are excited that Manning is moving forward in this economy, and also with the support of other merchants and local people we are and will be a town to be proud of.”

She said she would love to see Manning become a “destination shopping trip” like Florence, Charleston or Myrtle Beach.

“I want to see it become a destination shopping trip for ladies from neighboring towns,” she said. “We have a lot to offer and can make it bigger. It makes me happy to see other new small business in Manning. Let’s work together to grow this town.”
