Gloria J. Frierson, W. Louis Griffith and Julius Dukes Jr. have filed to run for the District 5 seat on Manning City Council that was held by Councilman Gregory Witherspoon.
Witherspoon died March 20, 2014, while in office and while also running unopposed in the city's April 8 election. His seat became vacant after the election, according to Mary Adger.
A non-partisan election will be held 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 8 at Manning No. 2 (The Cypress Center); Manning No. 3 (Woodmen of the World); and Manning No. 4 (Manning Fire Department).
