Preservation Month winners selected

Main Street Manning, a department of the city of Manning, partnered with the Clarendon County Historical Society Museum to sponsor a writing contest for Preservation Month focusing on things that go on in the Clarendon County Courthouse. Students from Laurence Manning Academy's third- and seventh-grade classes submitted essays and poems, with a winner selected from each grade. Third Circuit Drug Court Judge Amy Land read each submission and selected the winners. Main Street Manning Director Carrie Trebil and museum committee members Marie Land presented the winners with $10 each on Friday at the museum, along with a courthouse ornament and a signed copy of "If These Walls Could Talk" by Sylvia Clark. The winners were seventh-grader Cody Atkinson and third-grader Karley Brown.
