CLINTON, N.C. - Luther Carl "L.C." Tyson, 77, husband of Mary Ellen Tyson, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Born in 1936 in Robeson County, he was a son of the late James Russell and Alice Pegram Tyson. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a division manager with Coble Dairy Company.

Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Anthony Carl Tyson of Victoria, Texas and Luther Bryan Tyson and wife Debbie of Clinton, N.C.; two sisters, Margaret Williams of Fayetteville, N.C., and Millicent Tyson Nealy of Lumberton, N.C.; a brother, Sam Tyson of Manning and four grandchildren, Joshua Tyson, Justin Tyson, Brandon Tyson and Zachary Tyson.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, James Tyson, Harold Tyson, Thomas Tyson, Richard Tyson and Bill Tyson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Clinton, N.C., with the Rev. Charles Allard officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary and other times at his home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 408 College St., Clinton, NC 28328.
