The Laurence Manning Academy sporting clays team took the Intermediate First Year Division State Title in Richburg over the weekend. The tournament was sponsored by the state Department of Natural Resources. This was the fourth first-place title in a row for the Swampcats' three-man squad this season. Trevor Turcotte, Reid Norris and J.D. Burroughs are a first-year squad for the team. Trevor Turcotte took the High Overall (HOA) award for the division, scoring 90 overall. "You don't see very many 14 year olds, let alone adults, who can hit 90 out of 100 targets," said Head Coach Billy Downer. "That means he only missed 10 targets. It takes tremendous concentration and confidence to shoot that well. I am very proud of all three of these young me and what they have accomplished this season."
