Colvin Howard, 94, husband of Jacqueline Hardee Howard, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his home in Manning.

Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Montgomery, Ala., he was a son of the late John Bibb Howard and Genella Rutherford Howard. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama, attended the University of Southern California, and received a masters degree in history from Wetumpka College. He was a retired teacher, having taught two years in Hollywood Military Academy and for 31 years in the Los Angeles School System. He was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church and was a veteran.

Survivors besides his wife, Jackie, of Manning, include special nephews and nieces, Buddy Knotts, Deedy Knotts, Marjory (Terry) Thursday and Chloe (Jim) Black.

Funeral services for Colvin Howard will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Kingstree United Methodist Church, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. in the Ladies' Parlor at the church just prior to services.
