Manning Administrator Scott Tanner said Thursday during a budget workshop that the city of Manning already has a balanced budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year. "We have been able to balance the budget," Tanner said. "Right now, we are just waiting on the figure for the recommended millage increase we are allowed due to the cap (set by the state). We have went forward with a plan of a 2 percent increase." Revenues and expenditures are expected to be about $4.3 million for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. This is about $200,000 more than budgeted for the current fiscal year. Much of the increase comes from insurance premiums, which will be raised significantly in January 2015. "There isn't much that we can do about those increases," Tanner said.
