Ruth Thames Nickerson

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Ruth Thames Nickerson, 87, of Imperial, Mo. - formerly of Washington, Mo. - died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, in St. Louis.

Born June 16, 1929, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Madeline Shope Thames. She was united May 30, 1953, in marriage to the late Richard L. Nickerson in Manning. She was a member of the Washington Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, the Elks Auxiliary, the Mariner's Club, St. Peter's United Church of Christ and spent time volunteering in the St. Peters Food Pantry. She loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa (Rickie) Waterkotte of Imperial; a son, Brian and his fiancee, Amanda Brackney, of Los Alamos, N.M.; 11 grandchildren, Johnny, Blake and Laura Pepper, Brttany Hyde, Max and Jake Waterkotte, Hayley and Aaron Nickerson, Jesse Brackney, and Matthew and Cameron Vetter; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Briella Hyde and Kylee Waterkotte; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jimmy Pepper; a brother, Charles Thames; and a sister, Tootsie Serena.

Visitation and services for Ruth Thames Nickerson were held Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Washington. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
