Shed fire poses problems for firefighters

A shed fire in a secluded area of woods off S.C. 260 about seven miles outside of downtown Manning caused problems for firefighters late Tuesday evening. Firefighters first responded to the fire about 7 p.m., and were still fighting the blaze about 8:50 p.m. They ultimately called in a bulldozer to get to the fire, which was in a heavily wooded area off S.C. 260 and Bonanza Crossing Road. The property, owned by Warren James, also had several abandoned vehicles, scrap metal and other materials scattered throughout the wooded area, making the blaze difficult to contain.
