PAXVILLE - Wayne Albeon Scott Sr., 70, husband of the late Judy Ruth Hite Scott, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his home.

Born Sept. 19, 1943, in Paxville, he was a son of the late Richard Manning and Gladys Kolb Scott. He was a retired mechanic, he was a former mayor of Paxville, a former fire chief for the Paxville area and he was a member of Paxville Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Melissa Barkley of Sumter and Lindell Rodgers (Ricky) of Paxville; two sons, Wayne A. Scott, Jr. (Gloria) of Florence and Edward Hite (Eddie) Scott (Tosha) of Paxville; three sisters, Carrie Lee Ardis (Louie) of Paxville, Gladys E. Burke (Bob) of Santee and Annette Ridgill of Garden City; four brothers, F.D. Scott (Gayle) of Summerville, Leslie Scott of Charleston, Stanley Scott (Susan) of Ladson and Floyd L Scott (Marie) of Paxville; a brother-in-law, Buck Ridgill of Pinewood; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Penelope Scott; a great granddaughter, Maddison Rodgers; a sister, Myrtle M. Poston; four brothers, Richard M. Scott, Jr., Wallace H. Scott, Everette N. Scott and Ronald H. Scott; a brother-in-law, Lyde L. Poston; two sisters-in-law, Jane Duke Scott and Rebecca Moody Scott.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Paxville Baptist Church with the Rev. John Neel and the Rev. Dr. Eugene C. Mosier officiating. Burial will follow in Paxville Cemetery.

Dustin Brown, Ray Geddings, Buck Ridgill, Byron Ardis, Barry Ardis and Taylor Scott will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Stephens Funeral Home.
