A 2-year-old Pinewood girl who suffered internal injuries and head trauma from an alleged beating at her home on Tuesday night is still recovering at a Columbia hospital. Andrew Billups, the toddler's mother's boyfriend, told Clarendon County Sheriff's deputies that he found the child unresponsive and in a "seizure-like" state about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies responded to Clarendon Memorial Hospital about two hours later, and reported multiple apparent injuries to the child, including bruises and scratched. Doctors confirmed internal injuries. The child was airlifted to Palmetto Richland’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. No arrests have been made in the case. Billups, however, was arrested on an outstanding Family Court warrant during investigations at the home.
