A 2-year-old girl is recovering at a Columbia hospital today after injuries caused Tuesday night by a possible beating. Investigators with the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office say the toddler's mother's boyfriend found the child about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and called the mother to say the child was having a seizure. The woman told investigators that she left the home on Lands End Road in the Pinewood area of Clarendon County about three hours earlier, and that the child seemed in good health. Deputies reported the victim was wearing a neck brace while being treated at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, and that she had several bruises on the left side of her head. She also reportedly had scratch marks on her chest, "as well as a human bite mark on the left side of her torso." She was airlifted to Palmetto Richland's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. No arrests have been made in the case.
