MIDDLETOWN, Del. - Denise Gay Brand Boulay, 46, wife of Daniel Allen Boulay, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at her home.

Born Sept. 18, 1967, in Franklin, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Edward Charles Brand and Barbara Louise Hinton Brand. She was a born-again Christian, she loved spending time with her crepe myrtles, trumpet vines and maple trees. Her landscape was specifically designed  to attract humming birds and other wildlife as well. She would enjoy hours of peace in her garden. One of her favorite places to visit was Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania (an old DuPont Estate made into a park), flowers and trees everywhere.

She greatly enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her home. A strong love of family kept her close to them all. A bit of a prankster, especially around Christmas, we were always careful opening gifts from her as a surprise may lurk inside.

Survivors besides her husband of Middletown include a sister, Suzanne Davis of Indiana; two brothers, Dale and David Brand, both of Indiana; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Brand and Jeffrey Brand.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Gordon Reed and the Rev. J. Marcus Van Vlake officiating. Burial will follow in Summerton Evergreen Cemetery.

Dale Brand, David Brand, Jonathan Nichols, Marshall Nichols, Boo Humphries and H. D. Smith III will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Stephens Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Reasonable Hope Ministry, Christian Literature Publication and Distribution, P.O. Box 26, Gable, SC 29051; or to Harvest Community School Primary Christian Education, P.O. Box 21, Summerton, SC 29148.
