HOLLY HILL - Spencer McGarrett Washington, 40, died Friday, March 28, 2014 in Galveston, Texas.
Born Sunday, Dec. 16, 1973, in Charleston County, he was a son of David Washington of Holly Hill and Bertha Washington of Ladson. At an early age, he joined Greater Unity AME Church. He grew up in Holly Hill, and attended Orangeburg County public schools. He was a 1992 graduate of Holly Hill-Roberts High School. He was most recently employed at Dixie Turbine Service.
Survivors besides his parents include his daughter, Charity D. Washington of Vance; three brothers, Chris (Natalie) Washington of Bolton, N.C., Rodney (Sylvia) Harris of Harleyville and Antonio Green of Summerton; and four sisters, Angela (Willie) Sumpter and Andrea Snells, both of Holly Hill, Tammy (Troy) Johnson of Ladson and Chiquita (Monroe) Washington of Summerville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Greater Unity AME Church, 744 Coach Road in Holly Hill, with the Rev. Julius Steed, pastor, officiating, and eulogy provided by the Rev. Carol Berry. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at the home of his uncle, Nathaniel Washington, 774 Hesseman Ave, Holly Hill, SC.
