Historical Society to visit Hartsville

The Clarendon County Historical Society’s annual Spring Tour will be May 15. This year, the society will be visiting several locations in Hartsville, including Coker College, Kalmia Gardens, First Baptist Church chapel, the Hartsville Museum and much more. They will gather at 7:30 a.m. May 15 in the parking lot of First Baptist Church in Manning, and will leave by 8 a.m. Some walking will be required, so wear comfortable shoes. No high heels, please. Historical Society trips are popular and fill-up quickly, so please respond early. Reservations will be taken in the order in which they are received, with no exceptions. On the way home, the tour will make a special visit to both the Cotton and Veterans museums in Bishopville. There will be a picnic lunch for participants. To help with lunch, call Margaret Robertson at (803) 435-8289. The tour will arrive back in Manning about 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 each for Historical Society members and $40 each for non-members. Make checks payable to the Clarendon County Historical Society and either bring or mail to the Clarendon County Archives, 211 N. Brooks St., Manning, SC 29102.
