Cornell Prince

SUMTER - Cornell Prince, 85, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.

Born Sept. 27, 1928, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Robert Prince and Ann Toney Prince. He was a member of Goodwill Presbyterian Church, and retired from Indian River Terminal Inc. of Fort Pierce, Fla.

Survivors include two daughters, Queen P. Jackson and Connie Ann Prince, both of Fort Pierce; and a son, George White of Fort Pierce; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jasper Prince of Whiteville, N.C.; two sisters, Moszell Johnson and Mildred McBridge; and a special cousin and caregiver, Vernese M. Lowery of Sumter.

Celebratory services for Cornell Prince will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwill Presbyterian Church (USA), 295 N. Brick Church Road in Mayesville, with the Rev. Dr. Ella F. Busby, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Carnell Hampton. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Mr. Prince will lie in repose for an hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Goodwill Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 295 N. Brick Church Road, Mayesville, SC 29104.

The family will receive friends at 422 E. Charlotte Ave. in Sumter.
