Willie B. Vaughn, widow of Frank Vaughn Sr., died Friday, April 11, 2014, at the home.

Born Oct. 13, 1922, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Rebecca Epps Lemmon.  Mrs. Vaughn was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a pillar of the Shiloh community. Although she never had a career that took her outside of the home, her deep sense of love for her family and friends reached far beyond just her home. Affectionately known as “Gran-noonie” she made everyone feel like one of her own.

Survivors include two daughters, Rugena Vaughn Thomas and Zenovia Vaughn, both of Columbia; three sons, Herman (Francina) and Roland (Annette), both of Sumter, and John (Margie) of Paxville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lee; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a daughter, Betty Gamble; and six sons, Frank Jr., Eddie, Alvin, Lawrence, Furman and Willie Edward.

A public viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Job’s Mortuary.

The body will be placed in the church 11 a.m. Tuesday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 355 Pudding Swamp Road in Lynchburg, with Pastor Patty E. Gordon, officiating. Interment will follow in Goodman Cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the home, 4960 Mt. Sinai Church Road in Lynchburg.
