Golf fans rejoice as The Masters is finally here

Posted
The best, and most important sporting event in all of recorded human history got underway today when a trio of legendary golfers hit a single golf shot apiece. In the early morning chill on the first tee of Augusta National Golf Club, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus hit drives in their role as honorary starters, officially kicking off The Masters, an enduring legacy since 1934. In the field are 97 golfers representing 21 countries -- six are amateurs, 24 are making their first appearance and 19 are Masters champions. Who will win this year's green jacket? Defending champion Adam Scott -- pictured above lining up some putts during a practice round on Tuesday -- is sitting pretty after firing a first round 69 (-3), right behind 2011 FedEx Cup Champion Bill Haas, who carded a 68. Also shooting a 69 was Louis Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open Championship victor who was runner-up to Bubba Watson in Augusta in 2012. And Bubba is also on the leaderboard at -3, looking to add another green jacket to balance his wardrobe.
