Striped Bass runners and walkers have a good time despite unexpected course change

"It'll be funnier later." Travis Pruden had to scratch his head Saturday morning after the course for the Striped Bass Festival 5K/Run and 1 mile Fun Walk was changed while the race was underway. Apparently a bit of confusion led to the police re-routing runners and finishing the race back at Manning Primary School, where it started, instead of finishing near the courthouse. Pruden said Jose Zuniga finished "sub 12 minutes" while Sarah Cobb was the fastest female with a time of "sub 13 minutes." Both times were unofficial as nobody was at the school when the race completed. Pruden had a good laugh, though, and none of the participants were too worried about it, especially Brenda Graham, 52, and Judith Roberts, 71, both of Manning, who claimed victory in the Fun Walk. "We won," Graham said, laughing, strolling past the courthouse with her friend Roberts. "We definitely won," Roberts added.
