Jacob E. Smith Sr., who submitted his resignation to Clarendon School District 2 in February from his position as a teacher at Manning Primary School and as head varsity boys basketball coach at Manning High School, has been named the head boy's basketball coach of Cheraw High School in Chesterfield School District.
Smith will also serve as a math interventionist and coach at Cheraw Primary School. Smith's last day with Clarendon 2 will be June 6.
“Although I have enjoyed working in Clarendon School District 2 over the past two years, I cannot continue my future in education here,” Smith wrote in his resignation letter. “My family and I have decided to relocate at the end of this school year. I will greatly treasure the experiences I have had serving as a teacher and coach.”
