Today’s beautiful weather may lead to Monday showers

While Monday is expected to have temperatures in the low 70s, showers may be part of your evening commute. Winds are expected to be about 14 mph, and the humidity will be at 71 percent. Forecasts call for rain starting in the late afternoon and early evening, but the day should be bright and sunny.

Strat_StavrouDr. Strat Stavrou, a renowned area cardiologist, has joined the Clarendon Health System family of physicians. He will start March 10 seeing patients at Clarendon Cardiovascular Associates, across the street from the main entrance of Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

Stavrou previously had a cardiology practice in Sumter, with hospital affiliations with Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Lexington Medical Center and Providence Hospital.

Business and Bridal Expo in Summerton today

bridal expoThe Taw Caw Community Outreach Center will present a Business and Bridal Expo from 1 to 8 p.m. today at 1126 Granby Lane in Summerton, next to Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church. There will be food, shopping, free tastings, prizes, music and more, according to organizer Geri Kemp. Tickets are $5 at the door. For more information, call Kemp at (803) 460-1360. The Business and Bridal Expo will benefit the center.

Lady Saints defeat Dorchester in season-opener

fleur-de-lis-red-mdThe Clarendon Hall Lady Saints defeated Dorchester Academy 13-3 in five innings on Saturday to open up their season. Gracyn Royce picked up the win in the circle, striking out five opposing players and only walking one. Shannon Corbett was 3-3 with three RBIs; Brittany Bays was 2-3 with three RBIs; and Aubrey Johnson was 2-2 with two RBIs.

 


Foreston Field Trials raises $14K for Children’s Home

foxhunts2014_3The annual Foreston Field Trials and Auction to benefit the Turbeville Free Will Baptist Home for Children raised $14,000 for the home on Friday and Saturday, according to Will Tanner, left. He said the money would be used to pay off any remaining debt owed by the home.

More nice weather on tap for Sunday

Pretty nice weather today, huh?

Sunday should be pretty much the same, according to the National Weather Service, which is calling for some patchy fog before 8 a.m. We’ll see temperatures reach the low 70s under sunny skies with a breeze from the southwest kicking up in the afternoon.

Clouds will move in on Sunday night, with temperatures in the low 50s.

Pinewood Baptist revival

Pinewood Baptist Church, S.C. 261 in Pinewood, will have Spring Revival Services from March 16-19, with Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.; and services Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Rev. Kirk Carlisle will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served at 5:45 p.m. Monday through Wednesday prior to services. In addition to special music guests nightly, a nursery will be provided for all services.
