Sammie Lee Oliver, 76, husband of Christine Pearson Oliver, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 27, 1938, he was a son of the late Harry and Sarah Green Oliver. At an early age, he joined Liberty Hill AME Church and later joined Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God in Christ. He retired from SCDOT Highway Department and was a farmer.

Survivors besides his wife of the home include three sons, Sammie Lee Oliver, Lester (Valerie) Oliver and Quinton (Sandra) Oliver, all of Manning; two daughters, Kathleen (Milton) Pringle of Manning and Vanessa (Jasper) Pompey of Greeleyville; four sisters, Ella Allen, Lila Mae Brock, Eliza (Joe) Nelson and Catherine (the Rev. Willie) Starks, all of Manning; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.

Celebratory services for Mr. Oliver will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God in Christ located at 1285 Pearson Road in Manning, with Pastor Prince Sampson Pearson presiding; Bishop Elde Pearson, eulogist; and Elder Hattie Weathers, the Rev Willie Starks and the Rev. Bobby McDonald assisting. Burial will follow in the Carolina-Johnson Cemetery in Manning. Mr. Oliver will lie in repose one hour prior to service.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1125 K. W. Hodge Road in Manning.
