A 24-year-old Summerton man charged with the shooting deaths of his 9-month-old son and the boy's 59-year-old grandmother nearly three years ago told 3rd Circuit Judge W. Jeffrey Young on Wednesday that he will not testify in his own defense. The state rested its case against Justin Jermaine Johnson shortly after lunch on Wednesday, after calling about 20 witnesses during six days of testimony that began March 11. Johnson is charged with two counts of murder, kidnapping, first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Attorneys said the jury will likely retire to make a decision tomorrow afternoon.
