Flossie Thigpen 001Flossie Ardis Thigpen, 89, widow of Arthur Melvin Thigpen, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Jolley Acres Health Care Center in Orangeburg.

Born Sept. 14, 1924, in Pinewood, she was a daughter of the late Jack Neal Ardis and Marie David Ardis. She was a member of Manning United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Marie (Frankie) Brunson of Alcolu, Linda (Ralph) Liscio of Manning and Helen (Charles) Bosshart of Seabrook Island; a sister, Wilton Mitchum of Summerton; six grandchildren, Kathy (Larry) Cramer, Cheryl (Bryan) Blank, Lin (Pam) Brunson, Lisa Gibbons, Von (Johnny) Corbett and Tina Stoia; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ed Gibbons; and five brothers, Richard, Oscar, Leroy, Melvin and Neal Ardis.

Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday in Clarendon Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dr. James C. Adams officiating.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday at Stephens Funeral Home.
