Dorothy Jean Pugh Anderson, 86, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Agape Hospice in Columbia with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren by her side.

Born Aug. 6, 1927, in Williamston, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Roy and Iona Dye Pugh. 

She was a devoted member of Manning First Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and the Clarendon Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy retired from Schwartz Brothers Insurance in Chicago, Ill., at age 55 and from Clarendon Memorial Hospital at age 78. Dorothy dedicated her life to helping others. She loved her friends and treasured her family.  She was a loving mother and loyal friend to all. Her kind, loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeannie (Jerry) Doster of Lexington; a son, Jack (Lisa) Kirby of Conway; a stepson, Keith (Dorie) McNally of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn McNally of Guilford, Conn.; two grandchildren, Jamie Tobias and Jennifer Tobias; two step-granddaughters, Melissa (Shane) Zaker and Sarah McNally; and two step-great-grandchildren, Noah and Emma Zaker.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard J. McNally; and a stepson, Jeffrey McNally. She later married Marvin Anderson, who preceded her in death along with her sisters, Ruth Cantwell and Alice Griffin.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Manning First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dale Roach officiating.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stephens Funeral Home.
