ALCOLU – Beasley Welch, 70, husband of Jackie Elizabeth Jones Welch, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 17, 1943, in Turbeville, he was a son of the late Clarence McSwain Welch and Bessie Beard Welch. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study of Cross Roads Bible Fellowship Church.

 Survivors besides his wife of Alcolu include two sons, Steven Welch (Billie Ann) of Coward and Tony Welch (Missy) of Florence; two daughters, Joann Welch of Manning and Tammy Welch of Olanta; a stepson, Thomas Welch (Jennie Lynn) of Manning; two step-daughters, Delores Osteen (Randy) and Lynn Robinson (Wesley), both of Manning; a brother, Alfonza Welch (Norma) of Sumter; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilber, Millard, Billy and R.M. Welch; and two sisters, Kathleen Nettles and his twin sister, Bernice Welch.

 A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Drew Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Grove Free Will Baptist Church cemetery in Turbeville. Stacy Osteen, Tommy Welch, Todd Welch, Donnie Knotts, Daniel Brewer and Jason Dollard will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
