Police advise former inmates to check accounts

It may sound like something from a bizarre alternate universe, but if you've been a guest of the Clarendon County Detention Center in the past six months to a year, the Manning Police advise you to check your bank statements carefully. Terrance Lavon Watson, 33, of 3832 St. Paul Road in Summerton, is a former CCDC officer arrested last week for allegedly using a former inmate's credit card for personal expenses. He was released Feb. 20 - the day of his arrest - on a personal recognizance bond. "Right now, we only know of the one incident," said Manning Police Chief Blair Shaffer. Watson is charged with two counts of financial transaction card fraud, according to warrants. He allegedly paid a GEICO insurance bill with a former inmate's girlfriend's credit card information in November.
