The basketball season ended early Tuesday evening for the Laurence Manning Academy varsity girls team, who lost 46-34 to Hilton Head Christian Academy at the Sumter County Civic Center. The Lady Swampcats ended the season with a record of 14-14, said Head Coach Kendra Rowland, who was proud of their consistency. Her team was unable to take advantage of scoring opportunities, she said, and the game “gradually got away” from them, despite scrappy third and fourth quarter play. “The gap just got bigger and bigger,” Rowland said. Nonetheless, she’s taking a lot of positives away from the season as the team worked hard, accomplished goals and peaked at the right time. LMA’s boys varsity team squares off tomorrow night at 5 p.m. against Porter Gaud at the Sumter Civic Center.
