SUMTER - Albert Tomlin, 65, companion of Mary Brock McKinney, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Sumter Health and Rehab Center.

Born March 1, 1948, in Manning, he was a son of the late Thomas and Annie Wilson Tomlin. He attended Clarendon County public schools, graduating in 1967 from Manning Training School. He was a self-employed lawn mower mechanic and landscaper. He also worked at Georgia Pacific for many years. He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church (USA) and served faithfully on the Trustee Board there.

Survivors besides his companion of the home include five children, Jerry Wilson of Sumter, Lillian (Michael) Jonas and Brent Tomlin, both of Manning, Sgt. Maj. Phillip (Latoya) Tomlin of Fort Knox, Ky., and Derrick (Linda) Hilton of Jacksonville, Fla.; three step-children Michael (Daneishia) McKinney and Nicole McKinney, both of Sumter, and Brian McKinney of Manning; a sister, Annie Harvin of Davis Station; a brother, Robert Tomlin of Baltimore, Md.; a sister-in-law; four uncles; four aunts; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Celebratory services for Mr. Tomlin will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Westminister Presbyteria Church (USA), 9124 Plowden Mill Road in Alcolu, with the Rev. Dr. Gloria J. Williams, pastor, officiating; the Rev. Samuel Sparks presiding; and the Revs. Cheryl Graham and Henry McCray assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Tomlin will lie in repose one hour prior to services.

The family will receive friends at the home, 740 Barnwell Road in the Bellwood section of Clarendon County.
